  How to Convert to Islam

How to convert to Islam @ newmuslimessentials.com
If you wish to become Muslim, have a strong conviction and belief that Islam is the true religion ordained by Allah SWT, then do not delay in your pronunciation of the shahadah (declaration of faith).

Allah SWT says in Qur'an, "Truly, the Religion in the sight of Allah is Islam." (3:19)

In another verse, Allah SWT says "And whosoever desires a religion -other than Islam, never will it be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who are lost." (3:85)

Although it may be useful for one to obtain paperwork documenting their conversion (such as needed for attending Hajj or Umrah), it is not necessary to be in the presence of a sheikh or even witnesses to oversee one's adoption of Islam. Allah SWT the Almighty sees all things and knows what is in our hearts.

The Declaration (or testimony) of Faith (known as the shahada) is said as the following:

Ash-hadu anlaa ilaha illaAllah,
wa ash-hadu annamuhammadan 'abduhu wa rasoolAllah
In English, this translates to:

I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.
